Keep Your Home Organized During Summer Break

Now that the school year is winding down and your children are preparing for summer break, you’ll need to put some systems in place to keep your home in order. This is easier to do throughout the year when your children are gone for hours each day. When they’re home 24/7, you’ll need to stay on top of the clutter to keep it from taking over.

There are a number of ways you can do this. Some suggestions even involve the children so make them a partner in the process. Together, you’re able to accomplish more in less time.

Here are a few tips that will help keep your home organized during summer break:

  • Sort important papers by color. You can use folder inserts to categorize paperwork. Then, attach a colored sticky tab to the side before filing it away so you’re able to flip through your binder with ease.
  • Use plastic shower pocket organizers in the car. Hang it over the seats of your vehicle and label each pocket with a label maker. Keep everything you need to get through road trips, sports events, and even trips to the grocery store with kids. You won’t spend unnecessary time looking for the things you need because you’ll be able to see them in the clear pockets of the organizer.
  • Embrace the drop zone. Place bags, containers, and baskets near the door and in high traffic areas of the home to catch clutter. Make it a habit to have everyone put their items away before going to bed each night. This helps stay on top of clutter collectively so you’ll have more time to have fun with your kids.

Make good use of your children’s BinderBags throughout summer vacation. Use them to include chore lists, notes that they need to address, and even camp or family time information. If you’re planning on taking a trip together, you can fill the binders with games to keep the kids entertained while traveling.
