Maintaining a tidy home takes skill. It also takes cooperation on the part of all your family members. When your spouse and children take responsibility for putting away their own things, it’s easier to keep a clutter-free environment for everyone to enjoy.
Here are three organizational hacks for a tidier home:
- Make drawer dividers using shoe boxes. If you can’t figure out what to do with all those empty shoeboxes, take the narrow ones and use them to organize your dresser drawers. You’ll be able to keep undergarments separate from one another with ease. Best of all, you won’t need to buy additional dressers or bins to store clothes in because you’ll make better use of the space you have.
- Create a dry erase board using a picture frame. How many times has a picture frame at a garage sale or thrift store caught your eye? Now that you have a reason to use it, hang it in a high traffic area where everyone in the family sees it. You can frame fabric or wallpaper and use dry erase markers to write on the glass. It’s a classy way to write down your To Do List or other reminders you need to be mindful of.
- Velcro stuffed animals to the wall. If there never seems to be enough room to store all of your children’s toys, try this hack on for size. Use long strips of Velcro to create a holding place on the wall. Then attach smaller pieces of Velcro to the stuffed animals so that they’ll remain on the wall securely throughout the night.
Keeping clutter away is a difficult task for most households. That doesn’t mean that you and your family can’t make a sincere effort in reducing the amount of stuff you have laying around. By incorporating some of the hacks listed above into your daily routine, you’ll have less clutter to deal with and more time to focus on the important things in life.
